Ferragosto sul Terrazzo
"An Italian Summer Celebration"
Wednesday August 15th, 2007
Italians like to indulge in the idle pleasures of a seaside respite from the peak temperatures of this hot and hazy season. The August holidays culminate on the 15th with Ferragosto, which is rooted in a tradition as old as the Roman Empire itself. First proclaimed by Augustus (Julius Caesar’s nephew, heir and the first Roman Emperor), he named it for himself as the “Augustus holiday.” It marked a summer interval in Roman society in which the division of classes loosened as everyone mingled together and celebrated Ferragosto.
In the same spirit of relaxed summer entertaining, La Cucina would like to once again thank our patrons and exceptional supporters with a special invitation to enjoy la dolce vita on our rooftop haven, sul Terrazzo. Enjoy the beautiful downtown view of which only La Cucina may boast, while you are treated to our complimentary Italian summer celebration.
Please drop by and visit us between 6pm and 10pm and savour the many gifts from Chef Maurice’s kitchen. A cash bar will be available throughout the evening as well. This is an invitation only event.
We are also delighted to have the Adrian Raso Trio join us on the rooftop to fuse their sounds to the tastes of the Mediterranean.
